Pitty and Dodi live in an open marriage. Pitty loves and is loved, everyone is allowed to have everything from everyone else, anyone who has enough moves on, the open circle seems limitless. Eventually she embarks on a journey of self-discovery.

Brazilian director Tereza Trautman was only 21 when she created this film – a rebellion against the constraining norms of society. In it, she not only uncompromisingly explores polyamorous relationships but also grants her heroine, Pitty, a certain freedom from the macho rules of the game – the freedom to remain dissatisfied with what all her men have to offer.

A colourful, candid film full of explorations of sexuality, romantic relationships, friendships and self-expression, it was successfully screened for three weeks in Brazilian cinemas after its 1973 premiere. Eventually, it was banned – the military dictatorship strictly censored and prohibited films that challenged established norms. Once restrictions eased, the film was re-released in 1980, though heavily cut. Fifty years after its creation, Cinemateca Brasileira restored the complete version, which has become a still resonating discovery for audiences worldwide.
