ACID FOREST

Dir. Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė | Lithuania | 2018 | 70 min | Lithuanian, English, German, French, Spanish, Finnish, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, Mandarin, Estonian | subtitles in English, Lithuanian

Can you imagine a tourist site where people come to see a dead forest? Where they are not only observers, but also the ones being observed and listened to by black birds? The forest reminds of a nuclear fallout for some visitors, while others recall Hitchcock’s The Birds. People’s observations and responses to this environment are as multi-layered and bizarre as the story of the forest itself.

"The dialogue between these two films invites us to observe people's reactions to birds and life forms that are less familiar to them. Both films are full of humour, as well as a sharp critical eye that reflects on current ecological topics."

MAGNIFICA: PASSIVE INTRUDER

Dir. Ville Koskinen | Finland | 2024 | 20 min | Finnish | subtitles in English, Lithuanian

This short film tells about the coexistence of Finnish people in their summer houses and an uninvited visitor called Pectinatella Magnifica. The arrival of the green and slimy blobs to their safe and familiar environment brings uncomfortable feelings for the self-indulgent middle-class. Some react in astonishment and attempt to annihilate the strange creature, but others have a less prejudiced approach.
